Urban and Rural Community Development (URCD)
Modernization through increasing industrial and urban development has brought about considerable changes in the contemporary Indian Society. It is experiencing larger degrees of social disorganization, rural – urban migration, and inadequate employment, lack of services and absence of adequate infrastructure in rural areas. The focus of this specialization is on problems of slum dwellers; urban housing; community interaction in Solapur and Solapur Municipal corporation Area. A community approach to deal with these social problems is very relevant and effective in our country. The students of this specialization will be equipped with the various skills for professional intervention in the community setting. They will work as effective community organizers, activist, Planners, policy makers and development administrators.
Personnel Management and Industrial Relations (PMIR)
The elective deals with the labour problems and other crisis situation in Industry. It is a required qualification for appointment of Welfare Officer in Industry under the Factories Act 1948 and Maharashtra State Factories Rules, 1963.
Selection of Specialization
The students provisionally selected for MSW part I class will have to undergo an aptitude test (50 marks). The aptitude test contains objective question paper of respective specialization i.e. PMIR, URCD and personal interview taken by the specialization Selection Committee constituted by the Director.
